Trivia
Raffles was a gentleman thief, which explains the artwork on this card. The famous Raffles hotel in Singapore is named after him, as is the Rafflesia plant, or stinking-corpse lily, a south-east Asian rainforest parasite which produces the largest flower in the world. A film starring David Niven was made about the life of Raffles. |
