Netrunner - A Brief Overview

Netrunner is a discontinued CCG (Collectible Card Game) created by Richard Garfield and was released in 1996 by Wizards of the Coast, Inc.

The game takes place in the third decade of the 21st century of R. Talsorian's Cyberpunk ® roleplaying game, in which runners hack into computer systems of mega-corporations in order to liberate classified information known as agendas.

The game is designed for two players where one player takes to role of the Corporation, and the other the role of the Runner. While the Corporations use ICE (Intrusion Countermeasures Electronics) to protect their information, the Runners prepares for intrusion with Hardware, Programs and other Resources.

Daily Card Trivia

"Remember when your mother told you not to pet strange dogs? That's advice to live by."

"Schlag" is the stem of the German word "schlagen". It means to strike or hit. "Hund" is the German word for dog or hound. "Schlaghund" therefore means, roughly, "Hit Hound" or "Strike Dog". This is something of a direct take-off from the beginning of the cyberpunk novel "Count Zero", by William Gibson. In this novel there is a robotic tracking dog loaded with high-grade plastique. It tracks a person and when it gets close it explodes.
